Search Engine Optimization

Hi all!!!

Today I'm going to talk a little bit about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) because I got basic knowledge on that from Mr. Suranga Priyashantha Who done a web based lecture to us. Therefore I thought to share my knowledge with you all.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Before I talk about search engine optimization I suggest you to click on following link and watch the vedio because of that it is much easier to understand for you what Im telling to you.

Hope you got a some understanding about SEO and I will explain it further...

According to the Wikipedia SEO is,

"The process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural" or un paid ("organic") search results"

It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” listings on search engines. All major search engines such as GoogleYahoo and Bing have such results, where web pages and other content such as videos or local listings are shown and ranked based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users.

SEO includes all technical tasks and marketing tasks therefore website can gain high ranking in organic search results when user search for the subject matter of the web site.

SEO can be mainly devided into two.

On Page Optimization

Use key optimizing techniques on the pages of a website. A step-by-step approach to ensure that web site achieve top search rankings through careful consideration of keywords. These targeted search phrases are selected thorough keyword research and keyword density analysis, which are then inserted appropriately into the webpage.

Off Page Optimization

Off-page optimization involves the use of techniques outside a website, they are as important as on-page optimization. Off-page optimization serves as a powerful tool to drive traffic to a website.

Off-page optimization services cater towards meeting the criteria of popular search engines, most importantly Google. Insights gained over the years have helped to thoughtfully cultivate a highly effective link building approach, which focuses mainly on marketing your website over the internet.

Current status...

But at the moment people use this aggressively and therefore unnecessary competition increased. While SEOs can provide clients with valuable services, some unethical SEOs have given the industry a black eye through their overly aggressive marketing efforts and their attempts to manipulate search engine results in unfair ways. Practices that violate guidelines may result in a negative adjustment of the site's presence in search engine, or even the removal of your site from index.

Hope you got basic understanding about SEO. I will give more things to you in future. :)

Hi guys!!!

There is a saying that "all good things come at the end". So by following that I started blogging at the end. :D Hope to continue this in a interesting manner and hope this will help to people who have an interest in Digital Marketing.

Is Sri Lanka ready for Digital Marketing Revolution???

First of all I would like to explain what is Digital Marketing is. According to the Wikipedia
"Digital marketing is marketing that makes use of electronic devices such as computers, tablets, smartphones, cellphones, digital billboards, and game consoles to engage with consumers and other business partners".

By searching through the internet you can find millions of definitions for that. So I hope to explain digital marketing as i see in simple terms through out this blog. How I see "Digital Marketing is the promoting of brands using all forms of digital advertising".

So we can use any digital devises to promote any brand but effectiveness depend on the nature of the brand.

As a developing country it is better to see is Sri Lankan people ready for this Digital marketing. In past companies used many methods to advertise their brand and at the moment it reached to the maximum. That means all the companies using same old methods such as posters, normal billboards, TV ads etc. In which clutter is too high and because of that companies can't deliver their massage correctly to the customers.

Because of that now a days companies tend to use digital marketing as a promoting tool by doing that they try to reach their target customers in different ways. In Sri Lanka also we can see this use of Digital marketing to some extent.

In June 2012 Sri Lanka reached 3,222,200 internet users it is a 15% of the total population. Among them FB users are 1,515,720 and it is 47% from the total users.

Based on that my opinion is not enough internet users not in Sri Lanka and these users limited to developed areas as well. Use of  digital marketing in  Sri Lanka is not currently reach the total customers because only limited people use internet but there is a trend that is these figures are growing during past years. Because of that it is sure that we can use Digital Marketing effectively in future.
